After two years of decline, shipments abroad of cylindrical roller bearings increased by 7.8% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cylindrical roller bearing exports rose notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+0.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, the amount of cylindrical roller bearings imported in Eastern Europe reduced to X tons, waning by -3.3% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 48%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cylindrical roller bearing imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight reduction. The following importers - Ukraine (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - each amounted to a 6.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cylindrical roller bearing imports into Russia stood at -4.6%. At the same time, Slovakia (+18.4%), Romania (+10.1%), Poland (+6.7%) and the Czech Republic (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +18.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-6.4%) and Ukraine (-11.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Slovakia (+5.7 p.p.), Romania (+4.8 p.p.), Poland (+4 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+3.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ukraine and Russia saw its share reduced by -4.6% and -12.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cylindrical roller bearings in Eastern Europe, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 15% share.

In Russia, cylindrical roller bearing imports contracted by an average annual rate of -4.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (+7.3% per year) and the Czech Republic (+2.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 27%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
