Russia dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 90% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Lithuania (X tons), constituting a 6.5% share of total exports. Poland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of diammonium phosphate. Poland (-12.1%) and Lithuania (-18.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest diammonium phosphate supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lithuania ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

In Russia, diammonium phosphate exports plunged by an average annual rate of -2.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lithuania (-14.9% per year) and Poland (-6.9% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, falling by -15% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 58%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Diammonium phosphate imports reduced remarkably to X tons in 2022, waning by -47.5% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a modest increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, diammonium phosphate imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 59%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Romania was the largest importer of diammonium phosphate in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 56% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Bulgaria (X tons), Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons), together achieving a 36% share of total imports. Ukraine (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to diammonium phosphate imports into Romania stood at +3.0%. At the same time, Ukraine (+32.9%), Poland (+6.6%) and Lithuania (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ukraine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +32.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Bulgaria (-2.7%) and Hungary (-3.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Romania, Poland and Ukraine increased by +8.7, +4.2 and +3.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Romania ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported diammonium phosphate in Eastern Europe, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bulgaria ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 9.9% share.

In Romania, diammonium phosphate imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bulgaria (+2.8% per year) and Poland (+12.1% per year).
