In 2021, the East European disperse dye market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, showed a significant expansion. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, disperse dye production skyrocketed to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 321% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

For the third year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded decline in shipments abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon, which decreased by -4.6% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, disperse dye exports stood at $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Lithuania (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented the largest exporters of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon in Eastern Europe, together resulting at near 65% of total exports. Russia (X tons) held a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (6%) and Hungary (5.1%). The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X tons) and Romania (X tons) - each reached a 3.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +108.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and Lithuania ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 73% share of total exports. Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +106.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous year. Export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 17%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

After six years of decline, purchases abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon increased by 0.5% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, disperse dye imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) represented the major importers of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon in 2021, reaching near 25% and 23% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together mixing up a 39% share of total imports. The following importers - Slovakia (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) - together made up 5.5% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Russia (with a CAGR of +2.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the largest disperse dye importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Romania ($X), with a combined 52% share of total imports. The Czech Republic, Belarus, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +8.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 22%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
