Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by Lithuania (15%). Russia (X tons) and Latvia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to dried or smoked fish exports from Poland stood at +6.0%. At the same time, Belarus (+25.0%) and Lithuania (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +25.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Latvia (-2.9%) and Russia (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest dried or smoked fish supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lithuania ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland totaled +7.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lithuania (+8.6% per year) and Belarus (+18.9% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -3.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 29%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ukraine (+22.1%), Slovakia (+6.3%), Romania (+5.2%), Poland (+4.6%), Belarus (+3.8%) and Lithuania (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ukraine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +22.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Latvia (-1.4%), Estonia (-5.9%) and the Czech Republic (-14.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Russia and Ukraine increased by +15 and +12 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
