In 2021, Poland (X units) represented the main exporter of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard, making up 39% of total exports. All these countries together held near 52% share of total exports. Estonia (X units) held a little share of total exports.

Romania, with a CAGR of +51.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -20% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Lithuania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard imported in Eastern Europe surged to X units, jumping by 26% compared with 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 88%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wood dryer imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 118% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 51% of total imports. Ukraine (X units) held an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (6.2%), Belarus (5.2%) and Estonia (4.7%). The following importers - Latvia (X units) and Lithuania (X units) - each amounted to an 8.1% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -7.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ukraine (+31.5%), Lithuania (+14.1%), Estonia (+11.2%) and Latvia (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ukraine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +31.5% from 2012-2021. Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Belarus (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Ukraine (+17 p.p.), Estonia (+3.5 p.p.), Lithuania (+3 p.p.), Latvia (+2.4 p.p.) and Poland (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-9.8 p.p.) and Russia (-19 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard in Eastern Europe, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ukraine ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Latvia, with a 6.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +2.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (+21.0% per year) and Latvia (+19.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, waning by -2.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the import price increased by 34%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
