In 2021, the East European electric heating radiator market increased by 7.4% to $X, rising for the third year in a row after four years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 35%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the amount of electric storage heating radiators exported in Eastern Europe skyrocketed to X units, picking up by 23% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 62%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, electric heating radiator exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 57% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Lithuania dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Hungary (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Poland (X units) - together made up 6.2% of total exports.

Exports from Lithuania increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+71.3%), Hungary (+71.2%) and the Czech Republic (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +71.3% from 2012-2021. While the share of Hungary (+2.8 p.p.) and Poland (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Czech Republic (-2.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Lithuania ($X) remains the largest electric heating radiator supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 6.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 3.9% share.

In Lithuania, electric heating radiator exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+3.9% per year) and Poland (+67.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 6.3%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of electric storage heating radiators, when their volume decreased by -5.6% to X units. Overall, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 98% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, electric heating radiator imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 91%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Slovakia (X units) and Lithuania (X units) represented roughly 56% of total imports in 2021. Bulgaria (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Poland (X units), Romania (X units) and Estonia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 33% share of total imports. Latvia (X units) and Hungary (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +60.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electric storage heating radiators in Eastern Europe, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bulgaria ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Lithuania, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Slovakia amounted to +60.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bulgaria (+0.5% per year) and Lithuania (+33.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electric heating radiator import price increased by +50.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while Lithuania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
