The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 15%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, electrical circuit apparatus exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Czech Republic represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 30% of total exports. Romania (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 64% share of total exports. The following exporters - Russia (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) - each finished at a 9.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +7.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the largest electrical circuit apparatus supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the Czech Republic amounted to +6.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (+6.1% per year) and Hungary (+2.8% per year).

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electrical circuit apparatus imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the key importers of electrical apparatus for circuit connection, switching and protection in 2021, reaching near 15% and 32% of total imports, respectively. Romania (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.3% share, followed by Russia (12%), Bulgaria (5.8%), Poland (13%), the Czech Republic (15%), Hungary (32%) and Slovakia (4.5%). Ukraine (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, electrical circuit apparatus imports into expanded with a Hungary of +14.0%, while the Czech Republic (-4.1%) experienced a noticeable shrinkage unchanged over the same period. At the same time, Bulgaria (+19.1%), Hungary (+14.0%), Poland (+6.9%) and Romania (+5.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +19.1% from 2012-2021. Ukraine experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Russia (-1.7%), Slovakia (-3.0%) and the Czech Republic (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Hungary (+19 p.p.), Bulgaria (+4.1 p.p.) and Poland (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Slovakia (-3.7 p.p.), Russia (-7.7 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (-15.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 57% of total imports. These countries were followed by Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and Bulgaria, which together accounted for a further 37%.
Among the main importing countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +8.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
