In 2022, the East European electrical insulator market decreased by -29.1% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. The total consumption indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption decreased by -30.9% against 2020 indices. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electrical insulator production amounted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, shipments abroad of electrical insulators decreased by -35.5% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after five years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 44%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electrical insulator exports declined modestly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +72.5% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 15%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Ukraine prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2022. Russia (X units), Slovakia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from Ukraine decreased at an average annual rate of -2.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Slovakia (+53.6%), the Czech Republic (+3.0%) and Russia (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +53.6% from 2012-2022. Slovakia (+3.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Ukraine saw its share reduced by -6.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Slovakia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 48% share of total exports.
The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +5.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 51% against the previous year. Export price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, electrical insulator export price increased by +67.4% against 2020 indices. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Electrical insulator imports amounted to X units in 2022, growing by 11% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electrical insulator imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 6.9%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the major importer of electrical insulators, constituting 62% of total imports. Belarus (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Lithuania (4.9%). Estonia (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Romania (X units), Poland (X units), Hungary (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to electrical insulator imports into Russia stood at -1.1%. At the same time, Hungary (+24.0%), the Czech Republic (+20.8%), Poland (+8.3%), Estonia (+8.2%) and Lithuania (+5.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +24.0% from 2012-2022. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Bulgaria (-1.9%) and Romania (-6.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Czech Republic (+3.6 p.p.), Estonia (+2.3 p.p.), Hungary (+2.2 p.p.), Lithuania (+2 p.p.) and Poland (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Romania and Russia saw its share reduced by -3.2% and -6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest electrical insulator importing markets in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Russia ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 62% share of total imports. Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Belarus and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Estonia, with a CAGR of +6.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -10.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 17%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+8.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
