Slovakia (X units), Hungary (X units) and Romania (X units) represented roughly 66% of total exports in 2022. Russia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by Poland (12%) and the Czech Republic (5.7%).

From 2020 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +9.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Hungary ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Romania ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 65% share of total exports. Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.

Among the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +19.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2020 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+14.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of electrical insulators of ceramics decreased by -4.6% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 741% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, ceramic electrical insulator imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 15%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia was the largest importer of electrical insulators of ceramics in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near 32% of total imports in 2022. The Czech Republic (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Poland (X units), Ukraine (X units), Bulgaria (X units), Hungary (X units), Belarus (X units) and Slovakia (X units). From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to ceramic electrical insulator imports into Russia stood at +6.1%. At the same time, Slovakia (+17.9%), Bulgaria (+17.4%), the Czech Republic (+13.3%), Poland (+11.2%), Belarus (+6.5%) and Hungary (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +17.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Ukraine (-4.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Czech Republic (+7.2 p.p.), Bulgaria (+4.4 p.p.), Poland (+3.6 p.p.) and Slovakia (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-1.7 p.p.) and Ukraine (-17.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 500% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
