The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 74%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, electro-magnetic coupling exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Poland was the key exporter of electro-magnetic couplings, clutches and brakes in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 52% of total exports in 2022. Hungary (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Romania (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Russia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 35% share of total exports. The following exporters - Slovakia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - each accounted for a 6.2% share of total exports.
Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the electro-magnetic couplings, clutches and brakes exports, with a CAGR of +18.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+16.9%), Slovakia (+12.5%), Hungary (+7.7%), Romania (+5.0%) and the Czech Republic (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Poland (+27 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Hungary (-2.4 p.p.), Romania (-5.7 p.p.), Russia (-7.4 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (-8.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest electro-magnetic coupling supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Romania ($X) and Hungary ($X), together accounting for 70% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +18.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+9.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, approx. X tons of electro-magnetic couplings, clutches and brakes were imported in Eastern Europe; falling by -7.3% on the previous year. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +6.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 32%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electro-magnetic coupling imports declined to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +16.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Czech Republic was the largest importer of electro-magnetic couplings, clutches and brakes in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 50% of total imports in 2022. Poland (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Romania (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons). All these countries together took near 41% share of total imports. The following importers - Estonia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) - together made up 6.7% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to electro-magnetic coupling imports into the Czech Republic stood at +7.0%. At the same time, Romania (+26.0%), Poland (+24.0%), Slovakia (+14.9%) and Russia (+4.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012-2022. Estonia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hungary (-24.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Czech Republic (+19 p.p.), Poland (+16 p.p.), Romania (+9.2 p.p.) and Slovakia (+3.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hungary saw its share reduced by -47.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest electro-magnetic coupling importing markets in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Romania ($X), with a combined 69% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +21.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+11.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
