The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +102.2% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 32% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, power tool exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a strong expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Hungary (X units) and Romania (X units) were the major exporters of power tools in 2021, amounting to approx. 31% and 25% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Poland (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Belarus (X units) and Russia (X units), together mixing up a 38% share of total exports. Estonia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +111.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest power tool supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Romania ($X), Hungary ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 73% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Estonia, Russia and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 24%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +44.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 6.4% against the previous year. Export price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, power tool export price increased by +110.6% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 34% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+10.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
For the sixth year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in purchases abroad of power tools, which increased by 23% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, power tool imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 49%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia was the main importing country with an import of about X units, which finished at 37% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X units), Hungary (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Ukraine (X units) and Romania (X units), together comprising a 50% share of total imports. Belarus (X units) and Slovakia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +23.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 66% share of total imports. Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +18.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
