For the third year in a row, the East European plastic extruder market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 63% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 266% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, plastic extruder exports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -31.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 64%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Slovakia (X units) represented the key exporter of extruders for working rubber or plastics, making up 42% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X units) held a 24% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (14%), Bulgaria (5.7%) and Lithuania (5%). The following exporters - Belarus (X units) and Romania (X units) - each reached a 4.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +89.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the largest plastic extruder supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with an 8.6% share.

In Slovakia, plastic extruder exports expanded at an average annual rate of +40.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (-1.5% per year) and Poland (-2.9% per year).

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a deep downturn. Overall, imports saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 524% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic extruder imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 466% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X.
