Feldspar Market Size in Eastern Europe
In 2021, the East European feldspar market increased by 1% to $X, rising for the fourth consecutive year after four years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, saw a perceptible decline. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Feldspar Production in Eastern Europe
In value terms, feldspar production contracted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production recorded a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the amount of feldspar exported in Eastern Europe soared to X tons, increasing by 18% on 2020. In general, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 50%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, feldspar exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 33%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Ukraine represented the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 59% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Russia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 35% share of total exports. Slovakia (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
Exports from Ukraine increased at an average annual rate of +23.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Slovakia (+71.2%), the Czech Republic (+3.9%) and Bulgaria (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +71.2% from 2012-2021. Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Ukraine and Slovakia increased by +37 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest feldspar supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Ukraine ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for 92% of total exports. Bulgaria and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6.2%.
Slovakia, with a CAGR of +60.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 7.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per ton), while Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Feldspar Imports
Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of feldspar, when their volume increased by 17% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, feldspar imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons), distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) represented the key importers of feldspar, together generating 94% of total imports. Romania (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +10.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Bulgaria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 76% of total imports.
Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +11.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 9.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+2.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
