In value terms, filter block exports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 44%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Czech Republic represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 60% of total exports. Belarus (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Poland (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons). All these countries together took near 34% share of total exports. Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from the Czech Republic increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Poland (+45.5%), Bulgaria (+18.7%), Russia (+14.9%) and Belarus (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +45.5% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Czech Republic, Poland and Bulgaria increased by +16, +8.1 and +3.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Belarus ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 85% share of total exports.
Poland, with a CAGR of +54.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, declining by -17.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+5.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, the amount of filter blocks, slabs and plates of paper pulp imported in Eastern Europe dropped to X tons, shrinking by -15% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 13%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, filter block imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Russia was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded 34% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Moldova (X tons), together achieving a 54% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +4.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported filter blocks, slabs and plates of paper pulp in Eastern Europe, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bulgaria ($X), with a 9.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at -2.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bulgaria (+12.5% per year) and Poland (+6.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 25%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+7.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
