The East European LCDs and plasmas market shrank slightly to $X in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a slight slump. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

For the third year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma, which increased by 11% to X units in 2022. Total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +116.4% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. In 2022, the Czech Republic (X units), Hungary (X units) and Poland (X units) was the key exporter of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma in Eastern Europe, creating 93% of total export. Estonia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 42%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma, when their volume decreased by -10.5% to X units. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 105%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Belarus (X units) took an 8.8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (5.4%) and Romania (5.1%). The following importers - Ukraine (X units), Slovakia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) - each resulted at a 12% share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma. At the same time, Belarus (+16.0%) and Romania (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +16.0% from 2012-2022. Ukraine experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Poland (-1.9%), the Czech Republic (-2.3%) and Slovakia (-16.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
