Russia was the key exporter of flours, meals and pellets of fish or of crustaceans and molluscs in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 72% of total exports in 2021. In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest seafood meals and pellets supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Latvia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with an 8% share.

In Russia, seafood meals and pellets exports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Latvia (+16.4% per year) and Poland (+9.8% per year).

Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
