In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of furnace burners for solid fuel or gas, when their volume decreased by -2.9% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, solid fuel furnace burner exports rose modestly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Romania (X tons) was the key exporter of furnace burners for solid fuel or gas, committing 49% of total exports. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by Russia (9.6%), the Czech Republic (9.5%) and Hungary (5.6%). Ukraine (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Romania was also the fastest-growing in terms of the furnace burners for solid fuel or gas exports, with a CAGR of +14.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. The Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hungary (-1.8%), Russia (-9.2%), Ukraine (-9.3%) and Lithuania (-10.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Romania (+32 p.p.) and Poland (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Hungary (-1.6 p.p.), Lithuania (-3.7 p.p.), Ukraine (-6.7 p.p.) and Russia (-15.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Romania ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 64% of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +8.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, purchases abroad of furnace burners for solid fuel or gas increased by 18% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, solid fuel furnace burner imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons), distantly followed by Slovakia (X tons), Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the largest importers of furnace burners for solid fuel or gas, together constituting 87% of total imports. The following importers - the Czech Republic (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) - each resulted at a 6.7% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +26.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported furnace burners for solid fuel or gas in Eastern Europe, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to -2.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (+8.9% per year) and Poland (-0.7% per year).
