The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Poland was the key exporter of furniture of plastic in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 61% of total exports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X units) took a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Russia (6.9%). Hungary (X units) and Slovakia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic furniture exports from Poland stood at +8.0%. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+33.2%), Russia (+24.3%) and Hungary (+15.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +33.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Slovakia (-1.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Czech Republic and Russia increased by +18 and +4.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Among the main exporting countries, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +37.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -1.8% against the previous year. Export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, plastic furniture export price decreased by -20.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 78%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Eastern Europe

Plastic furniture imports surged to X units in 2021, jumping by 30% compared with 2020 figures. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +102.9% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Russia (X units) and Poland (X units) represented roughly 49% of total imports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X units) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Slovakia (9%), Romania (8.3%), Bulgaria (6.8%) and Hungary (5.9%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Slovakia (with a CAGR of +15.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 64% of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 27%.

Among the main importing countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +14.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
