The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 34%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, glass fibre chopped strand exports surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Slovakia prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2021. Belarus (X tons), Latvia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Slovakia increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Latvia (+18.5%), the Czech Republic (+12.1%), Russia (+8.6%), Poland (+4.1%) and Belarus (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Latvia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +18.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Latvia (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-1.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the largest glass fibre chopped strand supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 5.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Latvia, with a 3.6% share.

In Slovakia, glass fibre chopped strand exports increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+17.0% per year) and Latvia (+10.0% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 16% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild reduction. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +22.0% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Poland represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 50% of total imports. Russia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 24% share, followed by the Czech Republic (8.6%), Hungary (7.9%) and Ukraine (5%). Slovakia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to glass fibre chopped strand imports into Poland stood at +7.7%. At the same time, Slovakia (+17.3%), Hungary (+16.8%), the Czech Republic (+13.9%), Russia (+3.3%) and Ukraine (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +17.3% from 2012-2021. Hungary (+4.2 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+3.6 p.p.) and Poland (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ukraine and Russia saw its share reduced by -2.2% and -9.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported glass fibre chopped strands in Eastern Europe, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Hungary, with an 8.6% share.

In Poland, glass fibre chopped strand imports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+2.4% per year) and Hungary (+14.3% per year).
