Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, glycosides and vegetable alkaloids exports declined to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +58.6% against 2016 indices. Poland (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) represented roughly 68% of total exports in 2021. Slovakia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Lithuania (X tons). All these countries together took near 20% share of total exports. The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Russia (X tons) - together made up 8.5% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +55.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest glycosides and vegetable alkaloids supplying countries in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Hungary ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 90% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, Romania, Lithuania and Russia, which together accounted for a further 8%.

Among the main exporting countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +33.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -11.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the tenth consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded growth in overseas purchases of glycosides and vegetable alkaloids, which increased by 31% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a strong increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, glycosides and vegetable alkaloids imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +106.4% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented the key importers of glycosides and vegetable alkaloids in Eastern Europe, together finishing at approx. 54% of total imports. Hungary (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 34% share of total imports. Ukraine (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
