Poland was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 50% of total exports. Ukraine (X tons) held a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (5.4%), Slovakia (5.3%), Estonia (4.8%) and Bulgaria (4.6%). Russia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Estonia (+14.7%), Russia (+8.5%), Bulgaria (+3.9%) and Ukraine (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Estonia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +14.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Slovakia (-2.0%) and the Czech Republic (-11.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+23 p.p.) and Estonia (+2.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Ukraine, Slovakia and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -3.2%, -3.9% and -19% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest granite building stone supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Estonia ($X) and Ukraine ($X), with a combined 77% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Estonia, with a CAGR of +8.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of granite building stone decreased by -9.8% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
