In 2021, purchases abroad of granite, sandstone and other building stone increased by 53% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after six years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable setback. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of granite, sandstone and other building stone surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +79.2% against 2017 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
