In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the largest marble granules and powder supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the Czech Republic stood at +4.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+8.4% per year) and Romania (+5.6% per year).

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2021, marble granules and powder imports in Eastern Europe was estimated at X tons, surging by 4% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, marble granules and powder imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.7%), Ukraine (-2.3%) and Russia (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Hungary, Poland, Belarus and Romania increased by +5.7, +4.5, +2 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported granules, chippings and powder of marble in Eastern Europe, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ukraine ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 12% share.

In Poland, marble granules and powder imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (-4.8% per year) and Hungary (+7.6% per year).
