In 2022, Moldova (X tons), distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons), Latvia (X tons), Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) represented the key exporters of plaster, together achieving 90% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +32.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plaster supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Moldova ($X), Poland ($X) and Latvia ($X), together comprising 62% of total exports. Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, the amount of plaster imported in Eastern Europe declined to X tons, shrinking by -5.4% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +7.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 7.5% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
