The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +11.1% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, hydraulic cylinder and system exports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +36.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 34%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Bulgaria was the largest exporter of hydraulic cylinders and systems in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 46% of total exports in 2022. Poland (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Romania (X units), Belarus (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Russia (X units). All these countries together held near 49% share of total exports. Ukraine (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Exports from Bulgaria increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+45.9%), Poland (+12.3%), the Czech Republic (+10.0%) and Russia (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +45.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.8%) and Ukraine (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+10 p.p.), Romania (+8.9 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-7.5 p.p.) and Ukraine (-10.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Bulgaria ($X) remains the largest hydraulic cylinder and system supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Bulgaria stood at +10.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+5.7% per year) and the Czech Republic (+11.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per thousand units, rising by 20% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per thousand units), while Ukraine ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Hydraulic cylinder and system imports fell to X units in 2022, dropping by -8.8% on 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +21.3% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, hydraulic cylinder and system imports fell to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +14.7% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the key importer of hydraulic cylinders and systems, generating 48% of total imports. Poland (X units) took a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (14%) and Belarus (5%). Hungary (X units), Romania (X units) and Ukraine (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 3%. The level of import peaked at $X per thousand units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per thousand units), while Belarus ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+1.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
