Hydraulic Press Market Size in Eastern Europe

For the third consecutive year, the East European hydraulic press market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -9.7% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption recorded a noticeable downturn. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Hydraulic Press Production in Eastern Europe

In value terms, hydraulic press production expanded remarkably to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, approx. X units of hydraulic presses for working metal were exported in Eastern Europe; which is down by -14.5% on 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 109%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, hydraulic press exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Poland prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 82% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), constituting a 5.7% share of total exports. Lithuania (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Hungary (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the hydraulic presses for working metal exports, with a CAGR of +23.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+19.7%) and Hungary (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Lithuania (-12.2%) and the Czech Republic (-15.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+63 p.p.) and Belarus (+3.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the Czech Republic (-24.7 p.p.) and Lithuania (-27 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest hydraulic press supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 8.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland totaled +3.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (-4.7% per year) and Belarus (+2.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 74%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+12.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe

Hydraulic press imports reduced to X units in 2022, dropping by -8.9% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 106%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hydraulic press imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 54%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 56% of total imports in 2022. Lithuania (X units) held an 8.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Romania (7.9%) and Poland (5.7%). Slovakia (X units), Hungary (X units), Belarus (X units), Bulgaria (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Ukraine (X units) and Latvia (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to hydraulic press imports into Russia stood at +7.1%. At the same time, Bulgaria (+15.4%), Romania (+14.1%), Lithuania (+13.0%), Poland (+8.2%), Hungary (+7.7%), Latvia (+7.0%) and Belarus (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +15.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.4%), Ukraine (-6.0%) and Slovakia (-12.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+11 p.p.), Romania (+4.6 p.p.), Lithuania (+4.5 p.p.), Bulgaria (+2.1 p.p.) and Poland (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of the Czech Republic (-2.4 p.p.), Ukraine (-3.8 p.p.) and Slovakia (-17.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest hydraulic press importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Romania ($X), together accounting for 69% of total imports. Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

Among the main importing countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +19.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 34%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Latvia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+27.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
