Slovakia (X tons) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (11%), the Czech Republic (8.9%), Romania (6.8%) and Russia (5.1%).
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to hydrogen chloride exports from Hungary stood at +5.1%. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+24.5%) and Slovakia (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +24.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Poland (-4.2%), Romania (-5.6%) and Russia (-10.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia increased by +17, +7.6 and +2.4 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest hydrogen chloride supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Hungary ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 73% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Slovakia, with a CAGR of +14.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+10.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Hydrogen chloride imports soared to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 17% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country
Bulgaria (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) represented the main importers of hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid) in 2021, accounting for near 22% and 21% of total imports, respectively. Hungary (X tons) held a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (14%), Slovakia (13%) and Russia (5.7%). Lithuania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +13.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Hungary ($X) and Poland ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 55% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, Slovakia, Lithuania and Russia, which together accounted for a further 29%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +15.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
