Skates Market Size in Eastern Europe

In 2021, the East European skates market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The following exporters - Hungary (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Romania (X tons) - together made up 12% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +23.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest skates supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 81% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +27.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 3.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 14%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, skates imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the largest importers of ice skates and roller skates in 2021, finishing at near 39% and 29% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), constituting a 13% share of total imports. The following importers - Slovakia (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) - together made up 13% of total imports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 9.3%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
