The East European imitation jewellery market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. In 2021, shipments abroad of imitation jewelry increased by 73% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +78.7% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imitation jewellery exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +46.2% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Poland dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 71% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons), together making up a 21% share of total exports. Russia (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to imitation jewellery exports from Poland stood at +14.2%. At the same time, Hungary (+15.2%), Russia (+9.1%) and Lithuania (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +15.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Slovakia (-2.8%) and the Czech Republic (-7.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+34 p.p.) and Hungary (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Slovakia (-7.5 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (-20 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest imitation jewellery supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 7.4% share.
In Poland, imitation jewellery exports expanded at an average annual rate of +11.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+0.6% per year) and Lithuania (+0.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -16.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 19%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+8.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of imitation jewelry were imported in Eastern Europe; dropping by -11.2% on the previous year. Overall, imports saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 6.8%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons), distantly followed by Russia (X tons), Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) were the main importers of imitation jewelry, together achieving 97% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Hungary (with a CAGR of +1.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported imitation jewelry in Eastern Europe, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 12% share.
In Poland, imitation jewellery imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Russia (-10.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (-5.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 39% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
