In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 157%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery exports rose to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 234% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Poland was the main exporter of industrial machinery for the manufacture or preparation of sugar in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was approx. 53% of total exports in 2022. Hungary (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by the Czech Republic (16%) and Belarus (11%). Bulgaria (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Poland decreased at an average annual rate of -4.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bulgaria (+66.0%), Belarus (+31.9%) and the Czech Republic (+6.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +66.0% from 2012-2022. Hungary experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Poland (+27 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+13 p.p.), Hungary (+12 p.p.), Belarus (+10 p.p.) and Bulgaria (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the largest sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 9% share.

In the Czech Republic, sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery exports increased at an average annual rate of +9.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (-18.2% per year) and Belarus (+53.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -35.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 72%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+16.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery imports fell to X units in 2022, waning by -7.9% compared with the previous year. In general, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 89%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 93%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X.
