In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Ukraine ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 66% share of total exports. Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +17.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 39% against the previous year. Export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids export price increased by +71.5% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +66.2% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 26%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed buoyant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Poland dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 66% of total imports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 9.7% share, followed by Russia (7.4%) and Hungary (5%). Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +27.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hungary (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania and Romania increased by +2.8, +2.8, +1.9 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids in Eastern Europe, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 10% share.

In Poland, industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids imports increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+11.2% per year) and the Czech Republic (+8.8% per year).
