In value terms, industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) exports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +35.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) decreased by -12.4% to X units in 2022. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +36.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 52%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Russia represented the key importing country with an import of about X units, which accounted for 55% of total imports. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Romania ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 74% share of total imports. Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +10.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
