Ink-Pad Market Size in Eastern Europe

In 2022, the East European ink-pad market decreased by -7.6% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption saw a deep setback. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Ink-Pad Production in Eastern Europe

In value terms, ink-pad production expanded rapidly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production recorded a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the production volume increased by 59%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of ink-pads, when their volume decreased by -21.8% to X units. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, ink-pad exports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 205%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Poland was the major exporter of ink-pads in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was near 55% of total exports in 2022. The Czech Republic (X units) took a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Romania (19%).

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +52.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+90.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +90.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-3.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+53 p.p.) and Romania (+19 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the Czech Republic (-68.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest ink-pad supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 28% share of total exports.

In Poland, ink-pad exports increased at an average annual rate of +52.7% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (-2.0% per year) and Romania (+44.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 2.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+1.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Ink-Pad Imports

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, the amount of ink-pads imported in Eastern Europe dropped to X units, falling by -6.8% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 110% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, ink-pad imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 62%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Bulgaria (X units) was the key importer of ink-pads, achieving 51% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X units), Poland (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units), together achieving a 36% share of total imports. Romania (X units), Hungary (X units) and Slovakia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Bulgaria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ink-pads imports, with a CAGR of +22.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Hungary (+17.3%), Russia (+15.0%), Slovakia (+9.2%), Poland (+7.4%), the Czech Republic (+5.3%) and Romania (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Bulgaria (+27 p.p.) and Russia (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Romania (-5.1 p.p.), Poland (-6.3 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (-8.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Bulgaria ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Russia, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +11.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -5.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 21%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
