In 2021, the Czech Republic (X tons), Russia (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) was the main exporter of iron and steel wire in Eastern Europe, generating 79% of total export. It was distantly followed by Ukraine (X tons) and Poland (X tons), together making up a 13% share of total exports. Romania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

These countries were followed by Belarus, Romania, Ukraine and Poland, which together accounted for a further 32%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +11.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 41% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+16.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country
Poland was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded 34% of total imports. The Czech Republic (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Romania (X tons), Russia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons). All these countries together held near 54% share of total imports.
Imports into Poland increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Slovakia (+10.7%), Hungary (+6.4%), Lithuania (+6.3%), Romania (+5.7%) and Russia (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +10.7% from 2012-2021. The Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Poland (+4.9 p.p.) and Slovakia (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-3.5 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (-6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported iron and steel wire in Eastern Europe, comprising 33% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Romania, with a 13% share.
In Poland, iron and steel wire imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+2.6% per year) and Romania (+4.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
