Russia (X units) and Slovakia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

At the same time, Slovakia (+13.2%), Russia (+12.1%) and Hungary (+8.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bulgaria ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland totaled +4.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (-5.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+12.1% per year).

Among the main importing countries, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +11.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 20% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 76% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
