For the third consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded growth in shipments abroad of lifting equipment designed for mounting on road vehicles, which increased by 1.7% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 38%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, mounting lifting equipment exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 75%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Poland represented the major exporting country with an export of about X units, which accounted for 47% of total exports. Estonia (X units) took an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Slovakia (17%) and Romania (4.9%). Russia (X units), Lithuania (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.
Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Slovakia (+41.3%), Bulgaria (+25.1%), Russia (+19.0%), Lithuania (+6.1%) and Estonia (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +41.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Romania (-1.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Slovakia (+15 p.p.), Poland (+2.1 p.p.), Russia (+1.8 p.p.) and Bulgaria (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Romania (-8 p.p.) and Estonia (-9.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest mounting lifting equipment supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Estonia ($X), together comprising 90% of total exports.
Slovakia, with a CAGR of +47.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+11.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, approx. X units of lifting equipment designed for mounting on road vehicles were imported in Eastern Europe; jumping by 36% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mounting lifting equipment imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 43%. In 2021, Russia (X units) represented the key importer of lifting equipment designed for mounting on road vehicles, mixing up 47% of total imports. Poland (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Belarus (9.3%), Ukraine (8.8%), the Czech Republic (8.4%) and Lithuania (5.4%). Romania (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -5.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+12.1%), Lithuania (+10.0%), the Czech Republic (+8.6%), Ukraine (+8.3%), Belarus (+5.9%) and Romania (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +12.1% from 2012-2021. While the share of Poland (+8.5 p.p.), Ukraine (+5 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+4.9 p.p.), Belarus (+4.4 p.p.) and Lithuania (+3.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-25.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lifting equipment designed for mounting on road vehicles in Eastern Europe, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 12% share.
In Russia, mounting lifting equipment imports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+10.9% per year) and Poland (+9.1% per year).

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, mounting lifting equipment import price increased by +73.5% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the import price increased by 33% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
