Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +148.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Bulgaria (+34 p.p.), Romania (+10 p.p.), Lithuania (+5.2 p.p.), Ukraine (+4.3 p.p.) and Russia (+3.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Hungary (-12.2 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (-36.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Bulgaria ($X) remains the largest lucerne meal and pellets supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Bulgaria stood at +28.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+1.5% per year) and Romania (+19.6% per year).

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 6.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 11%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
