Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 42%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of machinery for the preparation or manufacture of food or drink, when their volume increased by 40% to X units. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, food manufacture machinery imports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 77%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
