There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of machines for mixing mineral substances with bitumen increased by 2% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 9,997%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bitumen mixer imports stood at $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable decline. Moreover, Ukraine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +73.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-2.6%) and Russia (-8.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Latvia (+44 p.p.) and Ukraine (+22 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Romania, Belarus and Russia saw its share reduced by -5.5%, -11.3% and -44% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Ukraine ($X), Russia ($X) and Romania ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 76% share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Ukraine, with a CAGR of +42.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 3.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 3,924% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Latvia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
