In 2021, overseas shipments of machines having individual functions, for mixing, kneading, crushing or grinding increased by 3.8% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +32.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 74% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, grinding machine exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +50.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Poland represented the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 58% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 12% share, followed by Russia (6%) and Lithuania (4.6%). Hungary (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Latvia (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to grinding machine exports from Poland stood at +11.8%. At the same time, Hungary (+15.6%), Lithuania (+9.9%), Russia (+8.5%), Latvia (+8.1%) and the Czech Republic (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012-2021. Slovakia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Poland (+15 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Czech Republic and Slovakia saw its share reduced by -3.8% and -4.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest grinding machine supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with an 8.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland amounted to +10.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+9.8% per year) and Lithuania (+14.9% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +57.7% against 2013 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then fell modestly in the following year.

In value terms, grinding machine imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 88% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Poland represented the main importing country with an import of around X units, which accounted for 32% of total imports. Romania (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X units), Hungary (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Lithuania (X units), Ukraine (X units) and Estonia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 59% share of total imports.

Imports into Poland increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Lithuania (+15.6%), Hungary (+10.5%), Romania (+10.3%), Russia (+6.4%), Estonia (+6.2%) and Ukraine (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+8.3 p.p.), Romania (+5 p.p.), Lithuania (+4.2 p.p.) and Hungary (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -5.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines having individual functions, for mixing, kneading, crushing or grinding in Eastern Europe, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (+5.9% per year) and the Czech Republic (+2.6% per year).
