The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, penicillins or streptomycins medicaments exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Russia was the largest exporter of medicaments of penicillins, streptomycins or derivatives thereof in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 33% of total exports in 2022. Romania (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Poland (12%), Lithuania (12%), Belarus (9.6%) and Estonia (8.3%). The Czech Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of medicaments of penicillins, streptomycins or derivatives thereof. At the same time, Romania (+14.2%), Lithuania (+9.7%), the Czech Republic (+9.5%), Belarus (+9.4%), Estonia (+8.3%) and Poland (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Romania (+9 p.p.), Lithuania (+4.9 p.p.), Belarus (+3.9 p.p.) and Estonia (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-15.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest penicillins or streptomycins medicaments supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Romania ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 56% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +13.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Penicillins or streptomycins medicaments imports reduced to X tons in 2022, dropping by -4.7% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 18%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, penicillins or streptomycins medicaments imports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 30%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Poland (+4.5 p.p.), Lithuania (+4.5 p.p.) and Russia (+4.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Romania and Ukraine saw its share reduced by -2.2% and -2.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest penicillins or streptomycins medicaments importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Romania ($X), together accounting for 66% of total imports. Belarus, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +7.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 19%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
