Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the seventh consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded growth in supplies from abroad of mixes and doughs, which increased by 2.1% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +96.8% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Poland was the main importer of mixes and doughs in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 34% of total imports in 2022. Hungary (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 52% share of total imports. Bulgaria (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Poland increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+15.0%), Bulgaria (+12.3%), Hungary (+10.6%) and the Czech Republic (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +15.0% from 2012-2022. Slovakia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Russia (-1.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Romania (+6.3 p.p.), Poland (+4.6 p.p.) and Hungary (+3.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of the Czech Republic (-4.2 p.p.), Slovakia (-5.3 p.p.) and Russia (-9.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
