Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+33.5%), Slovakia (+23.4%), the Czech Republic (+10.3%) and Lithuania (+8.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +33.5% from 2012-2021. Hungary experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Estonia (-1.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+11 p.p.), Russia (+2.7 p.p.) and Slovakia (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Estonia and Hungary saw its share reduced by -4% and -8.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest multiple-walled insulating glass unit supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lithuania ($X), with a 9.9% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 7.4% share.
In Poland, multiple-walled insulating glass unit exports increased at an average annual rate of +10.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lithuania (+8.9% per year) and the Czech Republic (+9.5% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+1.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Multiple-walled insulating glass unit imports rose notably to X square meters in 2021, picking up by 11% on 2020 figures. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +82.6% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 32%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Poland, Estonia, Hungary and Lithuania increased by +8.3, +7.3, +5.1 and +5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported multiple-walled insulating units of glass in Eastern Europe, comprising 32% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Estonia, with a 9.2% share.
