Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, non-cellular polypropylene film exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +95.5% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) represented roughly 77% of total exports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 8.9% share, followed by Slovakia (5.6%). Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +18.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), Bulgaria ($X) and Hungary ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 54% of total exports.

Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +18.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Non-cellular polypropylene film imports totaled X tons in 2021, surging by 14% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-cellular polypropylene film imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

Romania, with a CAGR of +6.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the Czech Republic ($X per ton) and Romania ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
