The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2020, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +61.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Poland represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 36% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Ukraine (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Lithuania (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Romania (X units), together achieving a 58% share of total exports. Russia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +12.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Ukraine ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 78% share of total exports.

Poland, with a CAGR of +10.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, surging by 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 30%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+13.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

For the third year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded decline in purchases abroad of non-domestic dryers, which decreased by -20.9% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports dropped to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 12%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the largest importing country with an import of around X units, which amounted to 36% of total imports. Ukraine (X units) held a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (10%), the Czech Republic (10%), Poland (7.4%), Lithuania (5.6%), Romania (5.6%) and Hungary (5.2%).

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -5.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Lithuania (+11.9%), Hungary (+11.3%), Romania (+8.9%), Ukraine (+6.6%) and the Czech Republic (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +11.9% from 2012-2021. Poland and Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Ukraine (+7 p.p.), Lithuania (+3.8 p.p.), Hungary (+3.4 p.p.), Romania (+3.2 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -20.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest non-domestic dryer importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together comprising 60% of total imports. Hungary, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +11.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
