Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +1.5% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, non-woven glass fibre articles exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented roughly 65% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons), together committing a 29% share of total exports. Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Lithuania (with a CAGR of +49.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-woven glass fibre articles supplying countries in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 77% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 17%.
Lithuania, with a CAGR of +39.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 6.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 7.4%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (-0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, purchases abroad of non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards increased by 15% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, non-woven glass fibre articles imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons), distantly followed by Ukraine (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Romania (X tons), Estonia (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) were the largest importers of non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards, together making up 91% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +66.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards in Eastern Europe, comprising 28% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Lithuania, with an 8.5% share.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
