In 2021, overseas shipments of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) increased by 53% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, exports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 85% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Poland was the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to 38% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 55% share of total exports. Estonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +25.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Hungary (+35.3%), Lithuania (+20.9%), Estonia (+11.9%) and Russia (+11.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +35.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.2%) and Ukraine (-5.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+26 p.p.), Hungary (+14 p.p.) and Lithuania (+3.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Czech Republic (-9.7 p.p.) and Ukraine (-29.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest organo-inorganic compounds supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Hungary ($X), with a combined 92% share of total exports.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +29.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -25.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate modest growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 99%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, imports of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) in Eastern Europe surged to X tons, jumping by 21% compared with the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +67.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 38%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the key importer of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 55% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons), together making up a 35% share of total imports. Belarus (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +10.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+13.3%), Romania (+7.5%) and the Czech Republic (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +13.3% from 2012-2021. Ukraine experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hungary (-5.3%) and Belarus (-8.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+11 p.p.) and Poland (+8.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hungary, Ukraine and Belarus saw its share reduced by -4.3%, -5.6% and -9.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) in Eastern Europe, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 25% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia stood at +13.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+21.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (+8.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 31% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
