The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 21%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of organo-sulphur compounds and other organo-inorganic compounds totaled $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 20%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Russia represented the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 47% of total exports. Poland (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Bulgaria (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons). All these countries together took near 43% share of total exports. Latvia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of organo-sulphur compounds and other organo-inorganic compounds. At the same time, Latvia (+41.8%), Hungary (+10.7%), Poland (+9.8%), Belarus (+7.0%) and Bulgaria (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Latvia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +41.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Slovakia (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+8.3 p.p.), Hungary (+4 p.p.), Latvia (+3.2 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Slovakia (-3.5 p.p.) and Russia (-14.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Hungary ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 74% of total exports. Bulgaria, Slovakia, Latvia and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
Among the main exporting countries, Latvia, with a CAGR of +35.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 32%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of organo-sulphur compounds and other organo-inorganic compounds decreased by -1.4% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +55.0% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, imports of organo-sulphur compounds and other organo-inorganic compounds amounted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +82.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
