Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Slovakia was the major exporter of other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by Russia (9.1%) and Poland (6.2%). Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Slovakia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof exports, with a CAGR of +70.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+60.1%), Russia (+32.8%), Hungary (+14.8%) and the Czech Republic (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Slovakia (+65 p.p.), Poland (+5.5 p.p.) and Russia (+3.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Hungary and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -64.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the largest aromatic monoamines supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 12% share.

In Slovakia, aromatic monoamines exports expanded at an average annual rate of +47.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+2.9% per year) and Hungary (-2.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, overseas purchases of other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof increased by 4.6% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -7.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 23%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aromatic monoamines imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented roughly 74% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together generating a 21% share of total imports. Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +33.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest aromatic monoamines importing markets in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Hungary and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +30.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
