In value terms, other papers packaging production amounted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 25%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. After six years of growth, shipments abroad of other papers packaging decreased by -7.1% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, other papers packaging exports rose slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 55%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the largest exporter of other papers packaging, constituting 50% of total exports. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Poland (18%) and the Czech Republic (7.6%). Ukraine (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the other papers packaging exports, with a CAGR of +23.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Poland (+14.9%), Belarus (+2.3%) and the Czech Republic (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Ukraine (-12.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 41% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Other papers packaging imports reduced to X tons in 2022, falling by -7.1% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 10% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, other papers packaging imports stood at $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Poland (X tons) was the major importer of other papers packaging, generating 40% of total imports. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Romania (13%), Russia (10%) and Hungary (9.1%). The following importers - Slovakia (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - together made up 7.4% of total imports.

The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported other papers packaging in Eastern Europe, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Romania, with a 13% share.

In Poland, other papers packaging imports increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+5.7% per year) and Romania (+10.1% per year).
